Are you in 3rd or 4th year and looking for an extraordinary mentorship experience?
This is a fantastic opportunity to fast track your transition into private practice. As an O-health mentee you will gain a greater understanding of how to integrate your knowledge into a private practice environment. This program closes the gap as you transition from student to health professional.
O-health is the love child of a physio and an osteo. With a team of over 25 it is a truly unique allied health practice located in Albury-Wodonga. It delivers care by utilising the complementary skill sets of physiotherapists, osteopaths, exercise physiologists and sports scientists. About the Program:
The O-health O-Mentorship Program is an incredible opportunity for final year Physiotherapy students to gain a valuable insight into a career in private practice.
We know you go on clinics and are off site- you can attend as much or as little as you like depending on your academic and work schedule.
It includes some, or all of these things, depending on your schedule:
- Monthly 1:1 mentorship meetings with a physio (either in person or virtual if you are on placement) covering a range of clinical presentations and therapist skills.
- Develop advanced manual therapy and manual handling techniques.
- Opportunity to shadow experienced practitioners during your university placement breaks – including exposure to speciality areas such as multidisciplinary care, osteopathy, exercise physiology, Pelvic Health physiotherapy, vestibular rehabilitation, musculoskeletal physiotherapy, bike fitting and general private practice physiotherapy.
- Ongoing mentoring from senior practitioners to assist the transition into private practice
- Access to our in-house seminars and professional development speakers.
- Access to our team of exceptional therapists and use of our gym and technology.
- Exposure to a range of group classes, including balance, falls prevention, GLAD, reformer, Exercise Physiology, strength and conditioning, youth performance classes.
- Closing the knowledge gap that exists between graduation and effective private practice performance.
- Learning to conduct a consultation in an effective way.
- Understanding the difference between private and public health care.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, you must:
- Be enrolled full-time in a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at CSU Albury
- Be a rockstar communicator.
- Be passionate about health care and about making a difference in your community and have a willingness to learn.
